ESOL: High School – STEM: Introduction to Technical Communications in Mathematics and Engineering

This two week introductory course is designed for ESL students who plan to pursue academic studies in the STEM disciplines. This general college preparation course will focus on a wide collection of topics in mathematics including linear equations, matrix algebra, and probability, along with an overview of major topics in mechanical, chemical, electrical, civil and computer engineering. Students will participate in a variety of engaging real-life experiments around UMBC’s campus. This course will support the development of advanced reading, writing and speaking skills involved in producing technical reports and presentations, along with the development of academic skills needed to succeed at the American University. (2 Weeks; all day)
